Ignite was founded in September 2002 under the name Hook Up as a product of the mission statement for Texas A&M's Impact. Currently there are three additional Impact/Ignite style organiztions. Foundation is located at Texas Tech, Crossroads is located at Southern Methodist and Connection is located at Oklahoma State.

about the organization's vision:

To provide a weekend of spiritual growth for freshmen
